Topic: Basement Wall in my plot

Hello Gupta Sir,

We recently brought a 300 sq yds plot in Hyderabad and planning to construct two duplexes each of 150 Sq Yds each. There is already an exisiting basement wall of two feet height constructed along the boundary of the 300 Sq yds plot.

Now here is my question, if we are planning to start construction and do we need to dismantle the existing basement wall. Please advise.

S L Gupta (Civil Engg) Join date: Mar 2008	Dear Reddy You should dismentle the old wall and construct the foundation according to the new plan and structural drawing.

Ar. Manoj Ralen Join date: Feb 2008	Dear Mr. Naveen, Are you planning for a basement? Once you finalize the architecture plan and the structure design of your place, there is a strong chance that the wall would not fit into the new structure design. So once you have the drawings finalized, you would be in a better position to make a decision on these walls. Most likely they would have to be demolished but you would know for sure once the plan is finalized.
