According to Vaastu, the best place for a good storage or utility area is the South-East corner, as South-East is supposed to be the place of fire God. From the practical and scientific point-of-view as well, it is considered to be the proper place for a kitchen or storage as beneficial infra-red rays come from east and ultraviolet rays, which are harmful for germs like bacteria, virus etc come from south. | | |

A follow-up question: A house is being constructed on the 1st floor of a north-facing site. There is a set back of 4 ft on the east side. Is it okay to put a slab on this setback say 3ft wide setback & utlize the South-East corner of this slab as utility area. The remaining area of this slab would be a balcony space. As we are using the SE corner of East side setback, does it mean that South-East corner is out-grown, which is not good as per Vastu.. | | |
