| Topic: CURING ON ROOF CONCRETE
Sir,
The roof concrete was finished yesterday evening (12/03/2014) for my house. I cured the roof completely today morning. By the time, I returned from the office around 5pm, the roof was completely dry. It must have been dry from mid day. Then again I cured it after 6'o clock. I am bit worried as everybody says the concrete should not have been left dry. Will it affect my roof concreting? kindly advice sir. I had used drinking water for complete concreting as well as curing. Snaps of morning curing attached for your reference.
Thank You sir.
With Regards, K Umapathi.

Dear Mr. K Umapathi, It was left for 3 to 4 hrs. without curing ,don't worry sir , its all okay..The presence of water is essential to cause the chemical action which accompanies the setting of concrete.Normally, there is an adequate quantity of water at the time of mixing to cause hardening of concrete, but it is necessary to retain water until the concrete has fully hardened. As you are using 'Ponding', is a very effective method..the depth of water should be 50 mm to prevent evaporation...Regards. | |
