Hello All,

I wanted to know how we can get the construction quality of a house checked externally. Are there any govt. / non. govt. agencies who do this ?

I have purchased a house and within 6 months we can see cracks in the wall, so I wished to get the quality checked before we take some action against the builder.

After construction of the house, you can check the quality of construction using the tips given below.          

  1. Find cracks in walls by inspecting physically.
  2. Check dampness in walls, roof of the house and ceiling of toilet.  
  3. Get samples of construction materials tested from any reputed laboratory such as “Shri Ram Test House” in New Delhi for following tests.
  • Bricks for crushing strength test.
  • Bricks for efflorescence test.
  • Bricks for water absorption test. 
  • Analysis of cement mortar to obtain ratio of mortar used in construction of house.
  • Analysis of cement concrete to obtain ratio of cement concrete used in construction of house.
