 Topic: Different types of ceilings.
Hi,

Have a 25 year old house in Goa, custructed using laterite stone.  It doesnt have an architectural design and was expanded as and when needed over the period of 25 years.  Just after the main entrance ther is a hall of 20 x  13 ft, this Hall is exactly in the middle of the house and its walls are elevated to a hight for future improvements to add another floor.  the walls are around 22 ft high with a typical Manglore (red) tiles.  Now I wish to put a ceiling to add another flore at around 10 feet hight.

My question is what is the most cost effective solution to this ??  I do not wish to put RCC slab on this.  Is there any other alternative ???

Dear Amogh

              There are other way for roof such as

   1. you may go with RSS Joist, batten and stone slate roof.

  2. Other option is Iron truss and AC Sheet roofing.

 3.Iron truss and  GI Sheet roofing.

Join date: Mar 2011		Thanks Mr Gupta for your response.  I also read about Ferror -Cement as an alternative to RCC and is much cheaper.  I couldnt find much information to what it is exactly and if some one can provide this way of construction in Goa.

Could you give me some information about this too ???

Dear Amogh

             Ferror -Cement  is mixture of cement coarse sand reinforced with layers of woven steel mesh and closely spaced small dia steel bars. You can go ahead with this option also.
