Hi all I am constructing a residential building and I have completed the structural part and now I am preparing to erect walls and now I am thinking to use solid concrete bricks, which I would like to seek advice, as I have seen some of the buildings constructed with this bricks and observed cracks in between columns and the concrete bricks even after a good plastering. Most of the crack are in the corners. so please advice as I also wanted to use this bricks due to less in cost compared to red bricksRegardsKinley Tshering |

sir, for your kind information that the red clay bricks are little bit costlier than cement concrete brick/blocks but due less weight and more morter joints the chances of cracks in the infill panels are much less than other concrete blocks. so use the clay brick which also serve the purpose of heat reduction in internal parts of building. the cracks at joints of column/beam with masonry or common for all type of bricks whether it is of clay or cement. to avoid the crack at the joints of masonry and rcc frame beam/column etc use GI OR MS chicken mesh at the joints before plaster the all surfaces. i hope that this advice will usefull to you and others thanks Er.
