Topic: Item rate Constructions better than square feet rate

Item rate constructions is good than square feet rates, People have developed this square feet rate trend unaware of the pros and cons, Many civil contractors who are not qualified started contracting even Masons and Mistrys too started contracting, clients looking for cheap constructions or in hope of getting price fall prey to these unprofessional civil contractors and later they repent when they face problems after construction, Please act wise and hire only and only qualified engineers.

S L Gupta (Civil Engg) Join date: Mar 2008	Dear Thanks for suggestion. You are right that unqualified contractor who are not able to calculate different items prefer sq feet rates. But the same problem is with house owner. In India we people wants to save a small money for engineering events but repent after words.

But sometimes owner also insist upon contractor to quote rates in sq ft.. Because they (owners) dont have time to calculate every item. they think it is a burden and headache.
