 Topic: Need suggestion on small cantilever terrace
Hello,
 I need to build a small overhang slab ( 4' x 8' ). The 8' side is attached to a beam (not continuous slab) and it is hanging 4' out. 

Is it possible to support this slab using 2 cantilever beams ( 200x200x1200 mm) ? If so, what reinforcement should I use? If not, what is the minimum depth of the cantilever beam that can achieve this? Also, what can be the minimum depth of the slab? Please suggest something. This is very urgent.

Join date: May 2015		Cantilever need counter weight to resist overturning.
If you need to project from beam and no possibility to extend back for counter hold.
The cantilever beam is not good option.
but if cantilever beam has sufficient fixity on end the size of 200x200 is sufficient in respect of deflection.
You need canopy type design to achieve this.
Slab overhung 4'-0" required approx 6" thick near beam and 5" on end.
Steel is in U-shape fork used.
Complete design possible only after study building plan.
Roughly steel required is 12 MM @ 4" c/c in U-shape fork.
