Please don't put DevMandir under the stairs, don't worry about God idols facing directions, God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. His divine rays fall in all 8 directions.You can fix a wooden plank on the NorthEast corner wall of your house at a height of 4 to 5 feet, and, place God idols on it and perform daily worship, if space is a constraint in your home and you are not able to allot a 4x4 feet space at least for puja room.For more vastu advice, you can consult me at vastumoorthy@gmail.com or call me on 8892663202 anyday between 10AM-12PM.May God bless one and all.
