Foundation of walls & columns should be excavated at least from 2 to 3 feet deep in the ground to accommodate the steps of foundation and foundation is well protected inside the soil. | | |

The depth of the foundation walls as shown in the sketch is in sufficient. depth of foundation walls should br >2 to 3 feet, depending upon the type of soil,its strength bearing qualities & height of the superstructure to be provided i.e. load to be transmitted. | | |

What about use of aac blocks instead of normal bricks? It it heat resistant so would be very good for indian summers. It is very light and therefore transportation cost reduces. It is also very durable. An article about these aac blocks along with its cost in india would be very helpful. Raj | | |
