For balancing the colors, You can use neutral colors on walls as you have dark colored furniture. It also depends on your choice. Sometimes a very bold contrast can be used such as saffron color or Yellow color for furnishing or walls. But it would not be suitable for study room.
Study room should always have neutral and sober colors. So that reader would not distract from interiors of room. | | |

If you have dark colored furniture/ furnishings then you should use light color on walls as well as ceilings. Vice-versa is also possible... I mean if you have bold colors on walls and huge/ heavy ceiling then you should use sleek and light colored furniture/ furnishings.
I mean you have to create balance between all the interior elements. However, every room should have single focus area. It might be wall, ceiling, floor. furniture, etc. When anyone enters the room, cannot look at all other things..... cannot move his eyes from the focussed area.

you can use the white color on wall or can apply any natural colors acc. to your choice. It will maintain balance between colors. And many more you can cover your study table with table sheets, and it can easily available in the market.

the tips given above are great and doable for me, except that my room has two entrance, and they are both facing each other creating a tunneling effect, is it advisable to sit in middle of these doors. | | |

I am a mother of a 16 year old physical disabled boy. He is intellectually good but his abilities are limited. He is studying in year 11. He was studious an hardworking with good results sometime ago. But now he lacks concentration, interest and zeal in learning anything.
