| Topic: Tiles or Granites
Dear Sirs,
I am constructing Ground + One House around 2500 Sq ft...
As per my contractor Agreement we have settled price per sq ft with the consideration of Specification of Vitrified Tiles Rs.50/ Sq ft..
I am pretty ok with Vitrified Tiles as i have seen my friends house in Gurgaon, now the contractor suggest that water in the construction house area is salty one which will erupt the tiles surface soon and tiles would loose the elegant style.. he suggest if we go with Granite with minimum rate of Rs.100/ Sq ft would be better one considering the salty water and does not loose elegant..
Could you anyone clarify, whether the contractor suggestion is correct, I should go with Granite instead of Vitrified Tiles..
Thanks.
Regards,

Join date: Apr 2015 | Dear Mr. Prabhu
It seems you are talking of Gurgaon. Your contractor has misinformed you as the salt in water has no effect on Vitrified Tiles because in Vitrified Tiles, there is a top protective and decorative layer and the water porosity is very low.
In fact the salty water which you will be used to clean the floor later may corrode the surface of Marble/Granite. Also granite is never recommended for use in residential indoors.
For Vitrified Tiles : For Rooms - Go for PGVT or GVT with Nanotechnology for Sheen. For Parking - Go for Full Body Vitrified Tile For Bathroom - Go for DCT or GVT

Granite is a very hard stone with long life and low cost. It doesn't need repolish and'is easy to maintain. It is used in high impact areas such as lobby, staircase , counter top in Kitchen and bathroom. However for Flooring in the House interior (bedroom, D?D room, etc) granite is avoided. Most of the best granites come in dark color.
You can call me for further assistance.
