|  Topic: Window position on wall
Hi Expert,
I am building a home through local contractor in my village, having 16 *18 ft room size, Can you help me figure out at what position I should fit the window on wall and what would be the best window size, roof height is 11 ft. I saw some people fit the window on 2.5 fit from bottom, I am planning to use 4*4 fit window. another question, when we need to install the window frame, during wall construction or later on?

Join date: Aug 2013 | Hi Bhuwan The correct poistion in your case can be anywhere 3.5/4 ft since your roof is 11ft, generally on 10ft roof the windows is placed on 3/3.5 ft. The std size of the windows is 4'.6"x 4'.6". Please do take care too much big windows also increase moisture and humdidy in your room . | | |

The height of window is different in house such as the height of window in drawing room may be 18'' to 24'' as the air come in the room to benefit the person on the sofa or chair, In bed room it may 24// to 27'' in kitchen it may at 36'' and in toilet it may be at 51'' to 54''.
Provide maximum ventilation in the East of the building if it might be possible.
Keep the minimum area of openings for proper ventilation and
lighting excluding door opening more than 10% of the floor area of room.
Keep the minimum height of residential building not less than 3 meters.
Screen all the openings to prevent insect penetration and provide louvered protection against the entrance of rain and snow.
Install Exhaust fan in the kitchen or toilets for proper circulation of the fresh air.
