In my view there is no use to repair the crack as it is due to settlement of wall. make wall rough and construct RCC wall with this old wall with light M S Steel bars. After lying RCC wall do cement plaster on the very next day including floating coat with cement shullary.

I have many are buiding sump with bricks/mesh/water proofing, instead of going for RCC sump as it is very expensive . All claiming brick one may not have any leaks as many houses having the same for years. What is your suggeston Brick sump or RCC sump?

It is right that brick wall sump is equally good. For constrution of sump do some care that
1. After excavation, compact the bottom of sump.
2. Lay cement concrete and compact it fully.
3. Construct wall either RCC or brick wall but brick wall should be 9'' thick not 4.5'' with cement mortar. It must be ensure that pipe should be laid during the masonary not after by bracking the walls.
4. Do cement plaster on both side and finish it with cement shullary on the same day .
5 lay the flooring and finish it properly.
6. Do curing for at least 7 days.

1. What is plastering proportion of mortar to be used?
2.What is mortar proportion to be used in the floor of sump?
3. Do we need mesh ,as i have see a thin metal mesh being put along the
wall during plastering? they say this mesh/water plastering will prevent
any leak coming in future
