Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Jay You want to know the size of column or pillar. The size of column is design according to load coming on pillar. However in general the size keep the size 9''x 12'' with MS Steel bars 6nos 16 mm diameter.

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Sir, The size and MS
Steel used in RCC column is designed on basis of load bear by the
column.Up to 2 story building i.e. ground and first floor the steel bars
given seems to be correct. Use cement concrete mix 1;1.5;3 in the
column duly machine mixed and vibrated.

Thank you very much Gupta sir for really quick revert and guidance.
Your advice means a lot for me, as i was little confused about the distance between the pillar (16 sft).
Engineer said the plan is for G+2, though at present i dont have any plan for third floor. Engineer saying that as the vertical pillar are of below 10 ft distance there is no problem.
Regards.

Dear Sir,
Sorry to bother you.
Main query as to number of floors and steel rods bearing capacity has been clarified by you.
When i checked other houses in the locality their hall size pillar to
pillar distance is about 14 - 15 ft only, where as in my plan it has
been given as 16 ft.
That is the only issue with the plan. As per engineer it is for G+ 2.
Brief of plan:
Pillar depth up to plinth beam is more than 9 ft. (Footings around 18 inch)
Pillar size 9 X 12 ( 16 MM x 4. 12 MM x2, 8 mm rings)
Plinth beam size : 9x12 ( Hall and bedroom- 16 mm (2) bottom and 2x 12 mm top)and for kicthen etc ( all 12 mm) - for room sizes plan is already attached.
top beam ( 16 mm (3) bottom and 2x 12 mm top)
Regards

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Sir, As already stated that It is better to take structural advice for building construction. The size of column is design according to load coming on pillar and safety from earth quack etc. This which you are doing is hit and trial method. If you have constructed the house than do not bother, live in the house happily.
