The size/ design of foundation of column i.e. footing size depth can be designed according to the safe bearing capicity of the soil at site , span of column and loading condition of the column.Simillarly the column design, beam design and the steel bars are designed accordingly. So when you are constructing your dream home with an expenditure of many lacs. So my advice is that you should contact any structural engineer of your town/city for design and I am sure that this small amount spent by you will give you saving and strength to your building.
