How to Apply Ceramic tiles on roof Terrace

 Topic: How to Apply Ceramic tiles on roof Terrace
In my newly constructed home, I am planning to flooring my roof terrace with ceramic tiles. Ceramic tiles are 1x1 foot size. Contracter wants to keep a gap of 5mm (Joint) between tiles. and he will fill it white cement. how is it in respect of waterproofing. Rain water can come down through joint between tiles.
Or should we apply tiles without gap.
Please guide me best way to apply tiles on roof.

Ceramic tiles is not a good material for roof (terrace) water proofing. You can do traditional water proofing first followed by ceramic tiles flooring. Good quality ceramic tiles expands/ distort very little, maximum 3 mm gap is sufficient. Maintain a good slope, use bigger tiles.

pooja you have a good choice but it is not safe for roof because ceramic tiles are not specially designed for terrace of the house. To lay tiles on your roof you should select best tiles that can't absorb water into it. I read some important instruction from tiles for home article after searching om google then i use on my roof. So you should use roof tiles those are designed for terrace.
