| Topic: white mosiac flooring stains removal or replace non-slip vitrified flooring, sound proofing advice.
Hi,
I would like to get some advice on presently white mosaic
flooring for 10 year old house, which has quite a few stains and looks
bad as its visible from the living room. These stains were very minimal
initially, and
unfortunately got worsened over time. Based on some recommendations I have used mild acid
based flooring cleaner/agents which has removed all the polishing and
increased the stains, although the stains seem to go off initially, they come back.
We got some painters / workers to evaluate the
flooring, they used acid and a grinding machine which has scarred (only
on a few mosaic tails) the flooring worsened and thankfully asked them
to stop the work at the right time. But over time the stains only became
worsened. Please check the photos.
The stains are not deep rooted into the flooring / mosaic itself, after
mild grinding the stains clears up and the floor shows clean white
mosaic. Having said this, the flooring may itself need to flattened and
re-polished after this. What kind of polish is recommend for mosaic ?
Most contractors say they use coconut oil ? Also I like to know the
average time required for getting this work completed for approximately
2000 sq foot area. (stains area may be around 50 sq foot or lesser).
Work should include replacing stained tails, flattening and polishing
the entire area with good quality wax / polish.
If the quality of the mosaic itself is not very good, I may
consider replacing it with non-slip vitrified tails. Please recommend
any good brands for vitrified tails (non-slip, mat finish) ? Is it
recommendable to remove the existing mosaic and replacing with non-slip vitrified flooring ? OR can this be installed over the exiting mosaic
flooring (with roft cement), I would like to replace the skirting on the
side as well to make it look uniform ? Would adding a layer vitrified
tails on existing mosaic flooring have any implications to structure /
foundation (non-pillar construction) of the house, especially for the
first floor, although not worried about the ground floor ?
Now I am at a stage where, I
may want to get some things redone (internal and external painting,
flooring (replacing or repolishing), sound proofing the windows etc) the
house. I have spoken to a few contractors who have recommend that
stains will not go away through polishing, while a few other said it can
done. Some of the contractors recommend me to go for marble / granite
and replace the flooring, and skirting in sides. Honestly, I am not very
convinced with authenticity of what I have been told, therefore would
like to seek advice on this forum.
Please help me with the following options:
1.
Based on the photos provided, is it possible to get the stains removed
with re-polishing the mosaic, if not completely at-least 80-90% would be
good enough ? Any good recommended polish or is coconut oil good enough ? 2. If replacing the flooring is the only option, what are the best
vitrified tails (non-slippery and mat finish) recommendable, I can get
around in Bangalore area. 3. Any other options (such as vetrified
tails (non-slippary with mat finish), regular glossy verified tails)
would be a best in terms of easy of maintenance and durability. I am
hoping people can share some experience with difference kinds of
vitrified tails. 4. As the house in on the busy road, I am
looking a re replacing French windows (wooden) with some better sound
proof, sliding window options available here. Any recommendations ?
Please advice
me at the earliest and appreciate if you can recommend any good
contractors in Bangalore south, would be happy to contact.
Thanks in advance. |
