|  Topic: we have extended rcc slab by 20 inches along the length of a 44 feet beam by usi
we have extended rcc slab by 20 inches along the length of a 44 feet beam by using 10 mm main and 8 mm steel bars as reinforcement. The beam was chiseled/chipped and the new 10 mm bars are tied to the old bars of beam @5 inch c/c. providing alternate L hook connection with the beam and alternate straight bars. The distribution steel is 8 mm. The extended slab DO NOT have an extended beam underneath. The 10 mm bars were welded also. Can i construct a 4" thick wall on the edge of the extended slab up to full floor height(taking the extended slab into room space)??? the thickness of slab is 4-5 inches... |

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Sir, There are two option. One is to test the slab by loading it with earth filled bags on the edge of newly laid slab. OR construction partition of aluminum instead of brick wall. | | |

Join date: Aug 2018 | Hello sir, I have seen a small project which had the slab extended by 4 feet and was taken into room space (but there was an extended beam underneath). But in my case Extension is just 20 inches, so i was thinking that i can take it into room space. What do u say sir.?? | | |

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Sir, If the slab is laid with the beam than there is no any problem. You can construct 3'' wall of brick or RCC. But keep large size window and ventilator in the wall to reduce the weight, also not put heavy items of house hold in the extending portion. Requrds | | |
