When we are constructing toilet on slab i.e. in upper story
1. If we want to fix english seat in the toilet than there is no need of sunken floor.
2. If we want to fix Indian seat in the toilet than foor either to be sunk or raised. | | |

Yes you can make it . But floor of toilet will be raised a
few inches
In case of Western commode Seat floor will raise 6 inch, but in case of Indian
seat it will raise about 12 to 15 inch.

Slab has already been laid. At that time Architect did not caution about this that in this case floor of the toilet will be raised.
I have consulted few sanitary persons also and they also say the same, that floor will be raised.
I want to avoid raising of the floor level. English seat will be used.
Is there any other option than to raise the floor level ?
If in worst case I have to raise the floor level, then what is the maximum inches it would be raised ?
6 inches raise is like going one step of a staircase. | | |

It will depend upon the position of your toilet, If the toilet is at the end wall than in case of english seat the raising may be avoided because the out let pipe go through the wall with toilet. The second method to avoid raising is that to lift whole of the floor of 1st story i.e. lay 2'' cinder and base coat 2'' cement concrete with brick ballast, than in this 4'' margen will be sufficent to take the out let pipe from the toilet. | | |

you can make 4" hole where you will have EWC and Floor gully and bring down the pipe to ground floor slab bottom where you can fix your P Trap and floor gully then harizondaly bring the pipe out of building
this is the procedure we use in gulf countries if ground floor owner is diffrent then this is not possible

you can follow as Mr. Vaikuntam method and put false ceiling to cover the pipe lines this how in multistory apartments in Chennai also execute. this solves most of the seepage problem in future and rectification cost also low if any seepage in future

Join date: Aug 2013 | Dear Vaikuntam/Mr Guna , In case the trap is below the floor slab wont the water level will come down as there is a additional pipe between the closet and trap and cleaning the closet upto the water level will be tedious and some surface unreachable to clean ,leading to odour creation ? | | |
