Monsoon or rain reminds me the story of Lord Krishna picking up Govardhana hill to protect from the anger of Lord Indra (God of rain in Hindu mythology). According to story once Lord Krishna advised villagers to stop worship of Indra. Because Indra belive that he is the only God. Indra got very angry and called “Samvartka cloud” to destroy the village with its rain, thunder and lighting. Soon there was heavy rain with thunder storm. Everybody gets frightened and approached Lord Krishan for shelter.
Lord Krishna immediately picked up “Govardhana hill on his smallest finger. All the villagers with their animals and other household things took shelter beneath the hill. They all were astonished by this act of Krishna. Soon Indra felt ashamed on him and stopped raining. All the villagers became happy and give a warm blessing to Krishna.
That was the story about Lord Krishna now monsoon is here and it may also affect your life or home too. Don’t worry I have some tips for you which can help you protect your home from monsoon rain. So here they are:-
Let’s start with exterior walls of home. Whenever you go for paint for your home, wisely choose weather guard or acrylic paint for exterior walls. This paint shines and stay for long in all seasons.
Second thing which comes in mind is rugs or carpets. If possible, roll up the rugs or carpets and put them away in store or on any safe place for the duration of the monsoon. If you are not able to put them away for some reason then try to take extra care. Avoid putting wet shoes or clothes on rugs. After monsoon or rain air your rugs in sun to keep them for last long.
Next is electrical gadgets, switches etc. Check all the switches, wiring and keep them in good condition.
Check all the sewage and drainage pipes to prevent water blockage.
Here are some more short tips:
• Cross –ventilation is must. Fresh air preserve a low level of humidity • Postpone all renovation jobs in the home. • Keep your home clean and dry as possible. • Protect wooden cabinets or drawer by putting camphor. • Hardwood floor need your extra attention
Finally the one option left or what all stress on is extra cleaning. Take care of your furniture, wooden floor, with them dry cloth and prevent moisture. It is must.
