This is a Hindu temple which depicts Hindu mythology and Indian Culture. It was built in November 2005 on the bank of river yamuna by BAPS (Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan). Akshardham’s unique architecture makes this temple one of the wonders of India. It consists of 20,000 statues, 234 ornate pillars and 9 domes and many arches. It is made from Sandstone and Marble which symbolizes devotion, bhakti and peace. This monument is 141 foot high. This temple consists of main monument, exhibition halls, IMAX theatre, musical fountain and garden. Akshardham is one of the most places of worship.
Hall of Attraction:
- Sahajanand Pradarshan: This hall presents life like automatic, dioramas and pictures of Swaminarayan’s life which displays the message of peace, love and harmony.
- Nilkanth Kalyan Yatra: This is a large screen theatre which shows the journey of Bhagwan Swaminarayan to his pilgrimage during his teenage across India.
- Sanskruti Vihar: A special peacock boat is designed for visitors to go on a journey of 10,000 years of Indian history in 10 minutes. This ride gives the message about the future of the world.
Yagna Purush Kund / Musical Fountain: This kund is a combination of vedic yagna kund and a musical fountain and this is a largest kund with 108 small shrines and 2,870 steps. Colorful musical water fountain gives life to the centre at night.
Bharat Upavan: It is also called ‘Garden of India’. It has lush gardens and lawns and statues of hero’s of India, national figures and women personalities. These things inspire the visitors about the values of our nation.
Yogi Hriday Kamal: A garden shaped like a lotus. Lotus reflects the sentiments of yogiji maharaj. Every petal of lotus spreads a message about ‘Faith in God and Faith in Man’.
