Sinosteel International Plaza, consisting of 358 meters-high office tower and adjacent hotel at 88 meters has been designed by Beijing-based architects MAD. The building is under construction and is expected to be complete by 2012 in Tinajin, China. It will be an external honeycomb structure, incorporating hexagonal windows in five different sizes, arranged according to wind and solar direction on the site in order to regulate internal temperature of the towers. The honeycomb structure will be energy efficient since the windows can be positioned accordingly, minimizing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. Thus Sinosteel International Plaza will be natural, growing in man-made environment of this new urban area.
