A contemporary landmark, the C42 was constructed as the first new building on Champs-Élysées in Paris. It took more than 30 years to be completed and is rated as one of the most beautiful buildings of France. The building consists of innovative architecture, compelling style and a bold approach to design. The C42 is meant for Citroen building number i.e. C for Citroen while 42 is the number of building. The building stands 30m high and the striking glass latticework exterior is covered by soaring chevrons showing building’s Citroën uniqueness.
The C42 project has been designed by France’s leading architects, Manuelle Gautrand who was awarded the prestigious contract in 2002 after she had won unanimous support in an international competition for her designs. The design of C42 focuses on visibility and light since glass front allows sunlight to come into the showroom and enhances the sense of space highlighting building’s reflective surfaces.
