Finnish architects ALA designs a residential house, “Tropaion” which consists of five perimeter blocks of varying heights covered with roof terraces of upper apartments on the site of former Hanasaari power station in Helsinki, Finland. The building forms an enormous bowl shape with crossing sea views from all terraces and gives a sense of community and togetherness for people. The courtyards of the building will create semi-private spaces and public streets with shops and services at street.
The winning design has been taken further in association with city planners. The regulation plan will comprise of outlining the size and shape of housing blocks to precise detail. The more architectural details will be developed further but this striking design will be implemented as proposed. The structure will initiate a new typology to the Finnish housing market and create a matchless and urban area to meet a big demand for heavily standardized housing market.
