88 Wood Street, the first city building with three linked blocks of office accommodation and eight storeys in London is spread on 33000 square meter area. The use of brilliant color increases air intakes and extracts at street level are also brightly colored. The design of building reflects 8 meter high spacious entrance lobby, granite floor as an extension to external landscaping.
The building, 88 Wood Street includes several inventive constituents. The reception area has 54 meter long wall running to the length of building. The fronts of main office floors are glazed from floor to ceiling to increase daylight and views. The building allows daylight to penetrate through office floors. The triple-glazed active frontage of the building is made of single panels, each 3m x 4m, and is of highly transparent float glass. The internal faces of external panes have low emissive coating which reduces internal solar gain whereas the cavity between double glazed units and third panel is fixed with powered, integral horizontal blinds having perforated slats. The photocells on roof monitor external light adjust the angle of blinds, minimizing sunshine; and heat gain and energy consumption.
