Hearst Headquarters Tower Is Designed To Consume 25 Percent less Energy |

The Hearst Headquarters Tower in New York has been designed to consume considerably less energy than a conventional building. The forty two storey tower is a model of sustainable office design and provides almost one million square feet of office space. The tower rises above the old building, associated with transparent skirt of glazing that maximizes the space below with natural lighting and gives the impression of tower floating lightly above the base. The lobby occupies entire floor plate, rises up through six floors and provides access to all parts of the building. It includes main elevator lobby, Hearst cafeteria, auditorium and mezzanine for meetings and special occasions.
The structure of tower has a triangular form that uses 20 percent less steel than a building made conventionally. The building is also distinctive in terms of environment because it is constructed by using 80 percent recycled steel and is designed to take up 25 percent less energy than neighboring conventional buildings. The Hearst is designed with a high value based for healthy workplace that will be increasingly important for staff members in future. In fact Hearst tower will be environmentally sensitive buildings in comparison to other buildings in the city.
