House of Vision, a private home in Shiga, Japan was designed by Kouichi Kimura Architects to protect occupants from being seen by neighbors. The house has several features such as blank exterior elevations and large windows to look through an enclosed central courtyard.
House of vision is located at the foot of a hill where fields and houses are situated together. The house was designed to live in the lap of nature without being disturbed by the looks of neighbors. To get maximum benefit, the building was designed to surround the lot with extended trench and to provide an interior courtyard.
The enclosed space glimpses images from nearby landscapes, creating relaxed outdoor living room that is not exposed to the outside world. Each opening of the house is carefully designed keeping in view “what to expose and what to conceal”. The opening of living/ dining room with kitchen on second floor has special attraction with pretty interior designs. In fact the house of vision is based on the theme “how to close/open in the open surroundings.
