Star Place: The departmental store

The Dutch architects “UNStudio” have completed Star Place department store in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The curved front wall, acting as a sunscreen and weather barrier is fully glazed and combines the curtain wall glazing with horizontal lamellas and vertical glass fins. From a distance view the concave front of the building displays a unique look of store. Lighting distribution and twisted frames spread soft colors in night and directs the visual field of the customers traveling on the spiraling escalators.
