It is possible to build a house with satisfying easily upto 60 to 70% vasthu norms. It is preferable to satisfy major vasthu norms of having lower level east and north sides and heavily loaded higher areas in south and west sides. and water underground storage tank in north eastern side and main entrance preferable facing east side.

you can refere innumerable literature on internet for typical plans. It will be foolish to try to achieve 100% vasthu. as it will lead to uneconomical expenses and vasthu alone will not add to prosperity of a person/ family. It is one of the important things. Your fate and astrology also will play a part. However, you can try for 100% satisfaction by combining fengshui and vasthu..as fengshui has many items like pyramids etc..by properly placing them defects of vasthu can be overcome..
