To store mild steel bar at site is important feature of construction work. Generally contractor store M S Steel bars in open space on the ground. The grass and plants grew up on the ground and wetness helps in corrosion of steel. To avoid corrosion at site following precautions should be taken.
1. Store MS steel bar on ‘Pucca’ or concrete platform.
2. Cover M S Steel bar platform with shed or temporary roof.
3. Use Tarpaulin /polythene to cover MS steel bars in rainy season. 
4. Clean steel with coarse cloth or gunny bags if it has some rust.
