Hello Himanshu,

Electric work is an important aspect of house construction. It needs special attention while laying electric wires/cables. If you do not comply with the specification, the following problems may arise due to carelessness.

1. If a problem occurs in the electrical cable/wires laid inside wall and RCC slab then dismantling may be required in some cases.
2. Defective electrical work may cause fire in the house and may endanger the lives of the occupants.

The following tips should be used for implementing electric circuits in a home.

1. Professional and good electrician should be hired for the work. All installations should comply in all respects with the requirement of Indian Electricity Rules for the time being in force.
2. All conductors should be run as far as possible along the wall and ceiling so that they are easily accessible and are capable of being inspected thoroughly. In any case wiring should not run above the ceiling.
3. The balancing of circuits in 3-wires or 3-phase system should be kept apart as far as possible in all cases, the minimum distance from each other being 7’ feet.
4. Medium pressure wiring, all associated apparatus should comply in all respect with the requirements.
5. All current consuming devices should be suitable for the pressure and frequency of the supply.
6. All conductors should be made of copper.
7. Insulted conductors should have a cross section less than 0.0020 sq. inch.
8. Nominal area (3/.029 inch) and every such conductor should be stranded.
9. All cables should comply with latest specification of insulated, annealed copper conductors for electric power and light
10. Each coil must be accompanied by makers test certificate stating the class and giving the result of insulation test.
11. Cables/electrical wires should be used according to the load expected in the house.
