|  Topic: Help on House Plan
Dear Experts,
I'm following this forum for a very long time. In fact it is like a dictionary for me in house construction.
We are planning to construct house on 36'x42' plot. Our Architect is suggesting to go with cantilever slab of 7'6" width and 37' length above the parking area and use 4' of that 7'6" in above floors into the house and use remaining 3'6" slab as corridor. Plan is attached here.
He is trying to utilize more space on ground floor by not giving pillars in parking area(8'6"). Right now we have not started with the structural design, I hope it would be heavy structure if we go with such design.
Could you please suggest me on this, is it safety to go with such cantilever design or shall we go with pillars in parking area and reduce construction area on ground floor accordingly ?

For this house planning you should take structural advice and follow strictly as this is heavy cantilever design.This cantilever have to bear the load for ground slab plus live load plus the load of first floor wall. In my opinion it is very costly and not advisable. Now a days there is earth quack age and earth quack have many time more effect on cantilever.
