Please confirm the strength of the existing structure by hiring a structural engineer.
He will check whether the building is strong enough to hold more construction.

basically my problem is some what diffrent, i have 26' x 40' g+2 house, this house is south facing and recently i had purchased the roof behind my house its size is 36' x 20'. This roof is 6" upper then my existing floor of my existing house or we can say this roof is 6" upper then the roof of my ground floor. i am also attaching the plan map of it, please advice me is there any problem in attaching it with my existing house and to do construction on it.

Join date: Feb 2008 | Dear Mr. Garg, Ideally if you combine both the floors then your architect would have more options of planning the space. Joining should not be a problem as once you construct rooms on top of your existing roof then you would need to do flooring also and 6 inches can be covered in that. Your structure should be strong enough to hold construction over your existing building so ask a civil or structure engineer to visit your site and confirm this. Other things would be easy to take care of.
