should consult any civil engineer or structural engineer who can give
best advice after inspecting the site of work/ house. But why you feel so to strengthen the columns is there any crack or settlement or any thing else.

Join date: Jul 2014 | Hi Sir, We took one engineer to the site and he said that "It is advisable to use 12x12 inch for G+2 floors. Though nowadays, very few use the advisable limit.. try to ask builder to strengthen it, so it will be earthquake proof". There is no crack or anything else. We got the structural design from the builder and have given to an engineer for advice.. Awaiting for it.. If possible will scan and attach the structural design here. | |

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear If there is proper structure design and no any problem in the house than, in my opinion there is no need to disturb the structure. Also in view that there is no any possibility to strengthen after construction. If feel any danger than we can give additional supports at the required point as suggested by the engineer after visiting the site. No use to make 9''x9'' pillar which already constructing to 12''x12'' after breaking the already constructed pillar. See any possibility if you feel with consultation with engineer and find the way how to strengthen the structure safely.
