If contract is through rate i.e. labor and material than he claim slab payment in sft and wanted extra payment of beam portion in slab. In my view he can claim extra steel of beam in slab but not for concrete and labor etc. If his agreement is on labor base than he can claim steel bending binding labor.

Sir,
Thanks for your reply, as our agreement with the contractor is for total construction and the rate for the Beam is Rs.200.00 per cubic feet and rate for the slab is Rs.200.00 per sq ft.Our dispute with him is that he has charged the slab cost as per sq feet which is ok but he is charging for the 6 inches beam which has gone into the slab, for example the visible beam size is 0.75 x12 inches where as he charging for 0.75x18inches.So please clarify whether we should pay him as per his quote or pay only for the steel used. Regards, kanjani rupesh | |

Join date: Jan 2013 | Dear Rupesh, you should follow Mr. Gupta advice. here in my site they are doing labor contract they claim but i did not consider that 6"in beam. we calculate only beam visible area. If material contract you should pay extra payment for the 6" beam steel cost.

Join date: Mar 2008 | Dear Rupesh It is not possible at this stage to calculate the actual used steel. Tentatively if your beam is 9'' wide, 5'' in slab and let suppose 20' length than contents are= 20x .75x.42=6.3 cft x 3kg per cft=18.9 kg. More over you can take idea from black smith i.e. bar binder who will tell you about bars placed in beam. In general at top 2nos bars are laid to secure rings of beam which cant be more than 18.9 kg.
