Hello Pallavi, It would be better to use Plywood for Shelves. Because once concrete or stone is used or fixed, it becomes very difficult to modify it in any circumstances, while wooden shelves can be modified or removed very easily.

Thanx for suggestion. So, apart from the consideration of renovation, is there any other problem for using concrete slabs. I heard concrete slabs will be economical.

First, you check whether there is any problem may exist like DEEMAK or Seepage/Leakage. If any, use stone or Cement concrete shelves. Else you can use plywood shelves also. For ethnik look, use wooden shelves.

As per traditional method book shelves are made up of wooden, Wooden shelve made of marine wood are best in look and can be mobilize in future as stone shelves are fix so can't be change or remodel or mobilize in future, were in you can used quartz or engineered marble slabs , if it is too small the Alaric material or fiber Cost wise both are same approx,I would suggest check your requirement (big or small etc) and accordingly select the material for wardrobe .

I Got a suggestion to go for granite in the range for 80Rs/Sqft wo kitchen wardrobe as it is cheaper than concrete one. Just mason need to raise the brick walls at various level and just put these granite slabs on that at every 3 feet etc. This is econonomical as cement concrete would be costly as there is barbending+centering+gangamen+finishing+material charges will add to it.
