Salt water

I am constructing a house in Chennai, pallikaranai. The ground water in this area is very salty if we go for a borewell beyond 30 feet. So I was advised by nearby neighbors to dig a well. As per that I dug a well up to 21 feet. The water is comparatively less salty. 1. Apart from rain water harvesting, kindly suggest me what are all the steps I should do to improve the quality of wate.

Overhead water tank - above head room roof

Overhead water tank-Initially we advised him to construct it above the head room by providing a pillar for 3 feet high. But, my contractor constructed the overhead water tank on the roof of the head room.
