Basement Plan

I want to build the house for 800 sq ft. I would like to build the house like apartment style with beams to raise the home to 9 feet high and use the basement area for other purposes. Being 800 sq ft size home, is it good idea build the house in apartment style or I should construct the house in traditional type to have the house in ground floor.If I construct house above 9 feet, house much it wil.
